I am only providing one start to this past visit because of the medical staff. I love Dr. Allsup and I am so pleased with the service she provides. Upon checkout, I was asked to pay a copay which I was under the assumption it would be covered under my insurance as an annual checkup. The front desk clerk very rudely and loudly for the office to hear which I was extremely embarrassed stated since I had medical questions & requested a test for “vaginitis” I was required to pay. I asked if I could be billed, because I was not sure of my benefits and how much I had to pay. She replied that I needed to pay. I asked if I can speak to someone and a billing clerk came out to assist. She immediately stated I needed to pay very rudely without giving me time to explain why I wanted to speak with her. She then stated that all patients should know there is a copay after I complained about how things should be communicated better. For situations like this it would be more professional to pull the patient in and kindly address the patients concerns. Also, as I was waiting for blood work my name was called by a medical professional and when taken to the back the front office clerk, billing clerk, and other staff were talking about me. Turns out there was two patients with the same name different last names in the lobby and probably weren’t expecting me to come in and overhear their conversation. I worked in healthcare for 8 years and I know how stressful it can be, but I would hope as paying customers with medical concerns we would be treated with empathy as we can be nervous or scared. Also, being empathetic to people’s financial circumstances. Thank you!
